Ellesmere Port District - Early Years Workers

Starting Well Children’s Centres offer services for families with children aged 0-19. To discover more information about groups or any of our other services please contact your local Children’s Centre or visit the Starting Well website.

What is on offer?

The Early Years worker will make contact to introduce themselves and invite you along to a weekly Let’s Play, running from each main site Children’s Centre. Let’s play is a structured group ran by our Early Years Workers and is a free session for babies and young children under the age of five and their families. There is a range of activities on offer for the children including mark making, messy play, books, sand and water play, music and more. Your family may benefit from also attending an Early Years focus group, the Early Years Worker will discuss the next steps for your family.

Who are the Early Years Workers?

The Early Years Workers are based in each main site Children’s Centre, and they work across the district within the community. They deliver groups through the children’s centres as well as one-to-one support in the home.

Through your time with an Early Years Worker they will chat to you about what your child likes to do, watch your child play and then plan activities and model them in a way that is easy for you to copy at home.

Early Years Worker support can help children to make progress in many areas of their development. All sessions led by an Early Years Worker promote play, interaction, stimulation, language development, physical development and emotional wellbeing.

What to expect

By signing and returning the section of this form you are agreeing for an Early Years Worker to make contact to give you and your child the opportunity to:

  • take part in a stage appropriate activities that are planned around your child’s interest
  • talk about play, and share ideas
  • get new and simple play ideas to practice at home
  • learn new songs, rhymes and stories
  • find out what else is available for you and your family to attend through the local Children’s Centre
