Cheshire East Emotionally Healthy Schools Links Team
Introduction
Emotionally Healthy Schools Programme was developed around the framework which was published in “Promoting children and young people’s emotional health and wellbeing. A whole school and college approach” (Public Health England/ Children and Young People’s Mental Health Coalition, March 2015).
Funded by Local Authority Cheshire East Council, the project seeks to improve pathways across young person’s services, improve capacity in schools to respond appropriately to emotional and mental health needs, continue to develop a shared language around mental health and improve links between education and mental health providers.
Our offer
The Emotionally Healthy Schools Links service from Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Just Drop In offers the following service to all Cheshire East Schools:
- Mental Health Awareness Training – Cluster based training built around the MindEd online learning modules. Staff are directed to complete four core modules then attend the training sessions which support embedding learning into practice, with resources to help respond to specific mental health difficulties.
- Mental Health Service Consultation - A cluster-based offer of consultation with an EHS links Primary Mental Health Worker. Schools identify children where there is cause for concern and prioritise those for consultation. Advice is given on the most appropriate pathway.
- Group Facilitated Reflection – A cluster-based group where staff can reflect on their practice, share good practice, and embed learning into working with children and young people. A focus on specific themes relating to practice and explore improved ways of working ensure a supportive environment.
Meet the team
This will be delivered by a team including one clinical lead, three Primary Mental Health Workers and a team administrator.
We will work closely with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), capturing the voice of the child by meaningful engagement with existing groups such as CWP’s Young Advisors, Just Drop In V-Team and Participation Groups, and the plentiful student voice groups within schools across East Cheshire education.
