The newly refurbished Upton Lea Integrated Hub on the Countess of Chester Health Park is now open, bringing a wide range of community health and care services together in one place.
Following a £5.3 million investment, the hub supports more joined-up working and improved care for local people across physical health, mental health, and services for children, young people and families.
Services now based at Upton Lea include:
- 24/7 all-age Mental Health Crisis Line
- Adult and CYP Mental Health Crisis teams
- Community Mental Health and Home Treatment teams
- Out-of-hours GP and Community Nursing services
- Cardiac Rehabilitation
Isla Wilson, CWP Chair, was delighted to officially open the building alongside colleagues from all services. She explains: “As we reopen today, we’re not just opening doors — we’re opening-up new possibilities for improved care. It’s about changing the way we respond to people when they need us most. Putting the person in the middle and developing joined up services to meet their needs.
“Bringing care pathways together for both adult and children’s services and physical and mental health services, reduces the duplication that frustrates us all at times and can only mean improved care for patients. Thank you to all our hardworking colleagues for everything you do, every day.”
The development also includes a new Place of Safety for people detained by Police under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act, which is due to open later this year.
Patients will be contacted directly if their appointment is taking place at Upton Lea. For urgent support, people should continue to contact NHS 111 and select the mental health option where appropriate.
