ABI Collage.pngService users, staff and members of the local HIP (Head Injured People) support group in Cheshire came together to celebrate Brain Injury Awareness Week with an afternoon of reflection, conversation and creativity.

The event featured a beautifully prepared afternoon tea, an insightful digital story and a powerful “reality tree” created by attendees to illustrate the day‑to‑day realities of living with a brain injury. The session offered a supportive space for people to share their experiences, highlight the challenges they face and recognise the progress made through the Acquired Brain Injury Service.

One member, Donna, shared her personal digital story, reflecting on how her life has changed since her injury and the support she has received. She said:

“I’m so glad I attended HIP today, it was a fantastic afternoon and lovely to see familiar faces and new ones. Talking to people who understand the challenges is beneficial. Thank you for your kind words about my video story. I am really proud and grateful I shared it – awareness is powerful.”
